Michael

11:30pm, just finished working on another video montage of pictures. This time the project was capturing Michael's image, his smile, a very small bit of history as seen through my eyes. I'm down to the last two weeks of my lesbian & gay bereavement group. We were asked to bring our partners/spouses into the group during these last meetings. We have spent many weeks sharing our grief, and looking to each other for comfort and support. It is now time to introduce the group to Michael.

Indulge me. This is a short tribute to our relationship.

  1. Dan, thanks so much for sharing those photos ... my favourite is the one at the end. Michael has those clear blue eyes, through which such intelligence shines.

Looking at them, seeing how vibrant he is, it's hard to believe he is gone, and I know it must be impossible for you to fathom.

Well done for putting this together, emotionally (and IT-wise too). Do you like to talk about Michael? I love speaking about Cliff - it is my #1 favourite subject.

  2. it i a beautiful tribute, a wonderful chance to introduce him to your group and to us. as Boo has her favorite photo, i too have well, a couple. i like the one from your wedding of you two sitting on the bench looking at each other with the freedom and openness of the ocean behind you. and i like the one of Michael sitting in the sun with his eyes closed, face upwards. it's like he's basking in the warmth and feeling a calm serenity that anyone chances upon this scene would envy. he's content. he's at peace with everything in his life. your photo appears to have caught one of those rare moments of bliss we sometimes get.

thank you for sharing this tribute with us. i wish you peace.

  4. Thanks to each of you for sharing your comments. It was a labor of love, three hours of labor last night, and I love to see it over and over. It's an honor to share this with all of you.
